Partial results. As of 21 October 2026 we have scored room 01 of 10 for 8 tools (tested 19 October 2026), plus a few extra rooms for some. The other 12 of the 20 tools we list are not tested yet. No final ranking. How we test
Switching from Collov AI: what to pick
You want fewer changes to the room. No tested tool had clearly lower room 01 drift than Collov AI (11.0); differences of 3 points or less are noise.
The watermark gets in the way.Apply Design (1 free credit) and virtualstaging.ai (2 credits after email confirmation) gave us a free output with no watermark.
The price.Roomagen costs $0.40/photo (drift 15.3, frame kept) vs $0.45.
You do not want a subscription.Apply Design (Apply Coins, up to 9, $10 one-time (per coin)).
Our room 01 download: no watermark, 1280x960, 38.7 s.
Why people look past Collov AI
The free output we got had a watermark (logo).
Room 04: Alignment failed under method v0.2 (21 inlier matches, 25 needed), so framing is unknown and the 56.5 drift is unaligned. Collov removed almost everything in the left half and the white walls have few features (164 keypoints), so all matches sit on the skylights and right wall. A diagnostic re-run with a looser SIFT ratio (0.8, 26 inliers) lines the pillars and skylights up and gives zoom 0.986 (about 1.5% zoomed out), +21 px shift, +0.31° rotation and about 3% newly drawn area at the left: framing would fail, and aligned drift would be 22.2. The output is 1488x718, the same 2.07:1 shape as the 1920x926 original, so it is downscaled, not cropped. The diagnostic is not an official v0.2 score.
Room 05: Framing passes and drift is low (21.4) because the automatic check only looks at the top 65% of the frame. It misses the biggest change: the two steps up to the bay are gone. Misrepresentation risk.
Where Collov AI holds up
It ranks 1 of 7 comparable tools on room 01 architecture drift (11.0) and kept the frame.
It is fast: room 01 took 18.6 s.
Editor note (fit to room, 5/5): Living zone staged and kitchen untouched, which suits an open-plan room.
It is among the cheaper options: $0.45 per photo (4 of 17).
Features listed on its pages: furniture removal (declutter), empty-room staging, restyling a furnished room, day-to-dusk, sky replacement, virtual renovation (wall and floor recolor), 360 or video output, an API, a "virtually staged" disclaimer option and a stated commercial-use licence.
Room 01 (our test): Lowest architecture drift on room 01 and kept the frame. Removed the chair that was already in the room (allowed: it is furniture). Output is slightly smaller than the original (1200x896 vs 1280x960).
Room 02: Framing passes. Removed the desk and book piles (clutter, allowed) and also furnished the room seen through the doorway.
Room 03: Framing passes. Replaced the original desk and chair with its own; staged the next room as well.
Room 04: Alignment failed under method v0.2 (21 inlier matches, 25 needed), so framing is unknown and the 56.5 drift is unaligned. Architecture drift runs from 0 to 100, lower is better (how much walls, windows and doors changed after aligning the output to the original). Differences of about 3 points or less are within measurement noise. Framing fails if the tool cropped, zoomed, shifted or rotated the photo beyond our thresholds. Editor realism ratings are one person's 1-5 ratings, not blind. Details: methodology. Partial results: 1 of 10 rooms scored for most tools (Collov AI also has rooms 02-05, Pedra rooms 02-06 and Roomagen room 02. The leaderboard still compares room 01 only.).
